ABOUT ASHBURN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

Ashburn Presbyterian Church is affiliated with the Fellowship Community (TFC). TFC is a network of churches and leaders called together to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ by growing in Christ’s likeness, living by God’s Word, and joining in God’s mission in the world.

At the heart of The Fellowship Community, is the desire to reclaim a covenanted biblical community, where we are united by a clearly articulated theology, a shared commitment to disciple-making, and a culture of encouragement and accountability.

APC LEADERSHIP

Elders

Elders are the spiritual leaders of the church. Based on historical church leadership as found in the scriptures (1 Peter 5: 1-4 and 1 Timothy 3: 1-7) elders set an example to the congregation in their service.

Deacons

Deacons provide the caring connection of the church among its members. The first identification of deacons being assigned to care for the members of the church is recorded in Acts 6:1-6 when the Apostles chose seven others to attend to these duties so the twelve could continue with the ministry of the Word.

APC HISTORY

  1. Founded in 1876, Ashburn Presbyterian Church was orginally called the Farmwell Presbyterian Church, the former name of the Village of Ashburn.
  2. The historic sanctuary was erected in 1878 on 10.3 acres of land just south of the community.
  3. APC was a small rural church until the congregation began to experience dramatic growth in the 1990's.
  4. APC's facilities have expanded over the years, adding a fellowship hall, new sanctuary and staff offices, and preschool classrooms.
